Bathhouse Letters
A crossword word-tile game on a marble board of the valley's 47 springs, with bonuses for Hot Springs words
About the game
An original crossword word-tile game for one to four players, set among the hot springs. Build words across a 15×15 marble board in a walnut-and-brass frame. Each of the valley’s 47 springs gets a square: the Display Spring at the centre, and 46 stained-glass premium squares swirling out from it. Eight Bathhouse Row squares carry painted medallions of the historic bathhouses.
Hot Springs words pay extra. Play TUFA, TRAVERTINE, BATHHOUSE, TERRAZZO, THOROUGHBRED or any of 96 themed words (267 forms) for a bonus of 10 to 25 points, and lay one over a Bathhouse Row square to double it. Each one opens a fact card with its source and goes into your Bathhouse Register. Three Featured Springs hide behind steam on brass plaques every game, and a letter clears each round.
Modes:
- Against the computer: play one to three town characters, from Easy to Hard.
- Pass-and-play: two to four people share one device, with a privacy screen between turns.
- The Daily Soak: ten turns with the same tiles for everyone that day, a best score and a streak.
The dictionary is the public-domain ENABLE list, and words are checked when you play them.
